Description |
The spat of the Indian oyster, Pinc?rr~/uluprt.o(lGr~o uld) and nucleated pearl oysters were transported to a farm set up in the sea off Andakaranazhi near Cochin, Kerala. They were cultured in a longline system from December 1994 to May 1995. The 3 month old pearl oyster spat of 15.9 mm average length attained 46.2 mm in 5 months. The nucleated pearl oysters also showed fnster growth and survival. Pearl production in the nucleated oysters worked out to 33%. |
