Description |
Polymer electrolyte complexes comprising polyoxyethylene modified polydimethylsiloxane/polyoxyethylene/NaClO4 have been prepared. Solvent free ternary polymer blends synthesized by varying the mole percent of POE nd O/Na ratio have been characterized using infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimeter and impedance measurements. Room temperature conductivity of the order of 10(-3) Omega(-1) cm(-1) was achieved for POE/4% POE - PDMS/NaClO4 blends at O/Na ratio = 12. Conductivities at room temperature are comparable to those of liquid organic solvents used in batteries, suggesting that these electrolytes can be used as an alternative to liquid systems.
