Description This paper presents an integrated rule-based and case-based reasoning approach for evaluation and selection of the software packages. Rule-based reasoning is used to (i) store knowledge about the software evaluation criteria (ii) guide user to capture user needs of the software package. Case-based reasoning is used to (i) determine the fit between candidate software packages and user needs of the software package (ii) rank the candidate software packages according to their score. We have implemented this approach and performed usability test to verify functionality, efficiency and convenience of this approach.
