Description |
A Wind Turbine Emulator (WTE), which can mimic the steady-state wind turbine characteristics, is reported. It can be used for research and development work in the area of wind energy conversion systems, without depending on natural wind energy resources and is especially suited for testing and experimentation work in the laboratory environment. It offers a controllable test environment that allows the evaluation and improvement of control schemes for electric generators which is hard to achieve with an actual wind turbine since the wind speed varies randomly. The proposed WTE uses a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) TMS320F2812 system and a 1.1kW separately excited DC motor. A PC interface is also developed to provide friendly user interface and real time control of experiments.
