Description |
Modeling of Voltage Source Converter (VSC) is always carried out independent of the type of application, for analysis of the system for various test conditions. In the present paper two main philosophies of modeling viz. continuous time and discrete time, linear time varying modeling of three phase two level VSC is analyzed and verified. The steady state operating curves from both the models are presented and analyzed. Multilevel Voltage Source Converter topology is superior alternative to multi-pulse arrangement for high power applications like STATCOM. Thus, the basic two level VSC model is modified for analysis of multi-level converter topology. The effect of DC-link unbalance is ignored and no Pulse Width Modulation is considered for ease.
