programming language process control iec 1131-3 |
|
Description |
Chemical process control typically involves periodic measurement of disturbance variables, in a direct or indirect way, and manipulation of output variables in accordance to the disturbances. This paper proposes a language paradigm, adhering to IEC 1131-3 standard, to program industrial control applications in view of a micro-controller based solution. Noting the fact that many embedded system applications thrive on bare minimum resources, the language makes it viable for the control software to run without an OS or a micro-kernel on the machine. Time triggered task invocation makes it possible to unite real-time applications as well. The language also supports peer-to-peer communication and has provisions to incorporate fault tolerance routines.
