Description Flux drooping occurs at the sector transition in direct torque controlled drives especially at low speed and high load operating conditions. A comprehensive analysis of this phenomenon and the schemes reported in the literature to address this limitation are presented in the paper. In addition, an efficient control scheme is proposed to minimize the flux drooping at sector boundaries. The proposed scheme is independent of the machine parameters and is easy to implement. Results of the hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation studies carried out on DSP TMS320F240 prove the validity of the proposed scheme.
