We have considered a perturbative approach in the WKB framework. Based on an expression for partial derivative E/partial derivative lambda, we have calculated perturbatively the Stark energy shifts for two important systems, a particle in a one-dimensional power-law potential and the hydrogen atom. The results provide important insight into the properties of these systems. [S1050-2947(99)00904-X].
