Description |
An experimental study to measure the condensing side heat transfer coefficient during film condensation of pure saturated R-11 vapour on single, horizontal, integral-fin tubes is reported. Measurements were made on five copper tubes with a root diameter of 19.0 mm and with fin heights of 0.8, 1.2, 1.6, 2.0 and 2.5 mm. The fin spacing and fin thickness were held constant at 0.5 and 0.4 mm respectively. The best performance was obtained with the tube having a fin height of 1.6 mm. This tube yielded an enhancement ratio of 6.3 over the corresponding smooth tube value. The data obtained for all the tubes have been correlated.
