Description |
Tensile specimens of Al-Cu alloys containing 6, 11, 17, and 25 wt.% Cu with different grain sizes were deformed at room temperature to investigate the effect of kappa/theta phase proportion, grain/phase size and mean free path (LAMBDA) between theta particles on flow properties. There appears simultaneous increase in flow stress and decrease in ductility with increasing proportion of theta phase. The Hall-Petch type relationship is found to be obeyed only on considering the phase size. The yield stress increases with a decrease in LAMBDA.
