Description The drag acting on a sill placed in a plane turbulent wall jet is estimated using a dynamic pressure model which is experimentally verified. The effect of an adjacent sill on the drag characteristics of a single sill and the combined drag of a pair of identical sills are found experimentally. The drag force experienced by a cube in a plane turbulent wall jet is also determined. The flow behind the two dimensional sill is measured with a laser-Doppler anemometer, The length of the wake and the characteristics of the relaxing shear layer are studied in the light of the Clauser parameter G defined for the inner layer of the wall jet.
