Description |
The Flory theory based method of Pandey et al. [J Chem Soc Faraday Trans I (GB), 85 (1989), 331] for predicting the surface tension (sigma) of quaternary liquid mixtures from pure component data, is modified. The average absolute percentage deviations (AAPD) of sigma-PRED from sigma-EXPT for the systems (A) pentane + hexane + cyclohexane + benzene and (B) pentane + hexane + benzene + toluene show that the modified model (with AAPD = 1.06 for system A and 0.91 for B) is far superior not only to the original model (AAPD = 6.46 for system A and 6.01 for B), but also to the methods of other workers.
