Description |
Low speed cascade studies of compressor blading have been conducted in a cascade wind tunnel to document the high flow deflection capability of some known single blade rows and some tandem blade rows. The study aimed at qualitative comparison through well known blade design parameters via Diffusion Factor (DF) and Loss Factor (LF). The tested blade profiles are composed of controlled diffusion airfoil (CDA) having aspect ratio 1.5 in either case. CDA 43 with 43 degrees camber for single bladed cascade and two tandem cascades, viz. CDA 21-43 with two different cambers of 21 degrees and 43 degrees, and CDA 21-21 with two identical 21 degrees camber airfoils have been used. Both the cascades have been tested at 26 degrees stagger angle with varying solidity and angle of incidence. Potential of tandem bladed cascade is observed at high solidity in the negative incidence range.
