Description |
A simple computational method is developed for the synthesis of binary phase diagrams using only the temperatures and enthalpies of melting of the pure components having identical crystal structure and the extent of deviation from ideality of the liquid and the solid phases. A regular solution model is chosen and it is demonstrated that various invariant phase reactions can be introduced in the system by changing a single interaction parameter which gives a measure of deviation from ideality in the two phases. Illustrative examples of free energy versus composition plots are given to show how different types of invariant reactions evolve in binary phase diagrams.
