Description |
A new simulator capable of "direct" steady-state time-domain simulation of circuits with periodic inputs is described. A Newton-Raphson iterative procedure is used to compute the state variables such that, after integrating for one period, they return to their original values. Several Power Electronic circuit examples are discussed. It is shown that the direct method Is computationally far superior than the conventional method in which transient simulation is carried out until all non-periodic transients have decayed completely. The new simulator is a public-domain program and can be obtained from the authors.
