Description |
Studies on the self-imaging phenomenon produced by an amplitude grating followed by a glass wedge are reported. A special feature of this setup is that any amount of lateral shift of the self-image of the grating may be introduced by altering the separation between the grating and the wedge. It is to be noted that during this shift the self-image planes will not change and the shift can be obtained simultaneously for all the orders of the self-images. As an application of this phenomenon a subtraction technique based on the same is proposed and experimentally verified.
