Description A high-silica zeolite KZ-1 with two different SiO2/Al2O3 ratios has been synthesized hydrothermally. Its sorption behaviour suggests it to be a medium-pore zeolite with 10-membered ring pore openings. The acid form of the sample with SiO2/Al2O3 ratio 108 showed good catalytic activity for the isomerization of m-xylene, whereas the one with ratio 173 had poor activity. Para-selectivity was very high. Platinum exchange of KZ-1 enhanced the stability of the catalyst. Comparison of results with those obtained on other medium-pore zeolites showed KZ-1 to have the highest para-selectivity.
