Description A method based on the intrinsic viscosities of transfer of polymers in pure and ''mixed'' solvents has been proposed to study the miscibility of polymer blends. Using this approach, blends of polystyrene with polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl acetate and vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer have been found to be immiscible. Also blends of polyvinyl chloride with poly(n-butyl methacrylate) are found to be miscible. Conclusive support has been obtained from thermal analyses studies of the blend films. Chee's method has been found to give unreliable results for the blends studied.
