Description Two random search techniques are applied to a constrained nonlinear optimization problem arising in reliability optimization of a complex pressurized water reactor (PWR) cooling loop system. The component redundancy allocation is obtained for minimal cost, subject to the system reliability constraint. The efficiencies of these two random search techniques are compared.
