Description |
With the almost universal acceptance of the X Window System as a de facto industry standard, and the growing multitude of X application programs, there is a growing need for a facility that can provide some sort of window sharing of X clients. This paper presents the design of the PLX system. PLX is a pseudo X server under development that provides a framework for concurrent display, on multiple workstations, of X applications that were originally meant to display on only a single workstation. This broadcast is achieved without any modification to the original X application code. PLX is designed to provide the mechanism for broadcast not the policy, and is meant to be run under the control of a larger system, such as an electronic conferencing system.
