Description |
This paper deals with the probabilistic analysis of a two-stage production system subject to inspection at the first stage and initial buffer. The buffer is of finite holding capacity N. When the buffer level reduces to n, a replenishment order of size (N - n) is placed. The arrival time of the re-order is exponentially distributed. The processing time of machine I is random and governed by an arbitrary distribution, while that of machine II is negative exponential. Various measures of system performance are evaluated by using the state-space method. Numerical results pertaining to a particular case are given.
