Description |
FAILURE ANALYSIS of a high-strength low-alloy steel spring was carried out. The results showed that the spring failed due to hydrogen embrittlement assisted by clusters of inclusions. The reasons have been analysed and suitable recommendations have been made with respect to some of the operations encountered in the overall manufacturing process of springs of this type.
