Description |
Geosynthetic materials are being increasingly used in geotechinical engineeing activities. One of the major areas of application is for improvement of bearing capacity of geosynthetic reinforced sand. The present study aims at investigating the effect of depth of placement on the bearing capacity ratio (BCR). Experimental and finite element method (FEM) approaches have been adopted. A close agreement is found between the two approaches. A U/B ratio of 0.25 is found to be the optimum depth of placement.
