Description |
Dielectrophoresis is an electrokinetics-based phenomenon that involves the motion of a particle due to interaction between its dipole moment and an applied nonuniform electric field. This technique is very effective in particle manipulation and separation. In this paper, we consider an energy optimal transfer of a particle in a dielectrophoretic system from one specified location to another desired location. The system is described by a set of ordinary differential equations with a quadratic term in the control variable (the control being the applied voltage on the electrodes which induces the electric field), making the system nonaffine.
