Description Analysis of different biological fluids that contain an archive of information regarding the pathophysiologic conditions of a patient is very useful for biomarker discovery and early disease diagnosis. In recent years, there have been intense efforts to analyze various biological fluids and identify panels of protein markers for different types of cancers. Among the different emerging label-free approaches, surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and SPR imaging are the most promising candidates for diagnostic applications as well as studying biomolecular interactions. This article highlights the key technological advances of SPR-based sensing approaches and their applications in cancer biomarker discovery and inhibitor screening of tumor targets.
