Description |
A novel cup-shaped dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) geometry based on inverted hemispherical dielectric resonator antenna (HDRA) is proposed and investigated. The material used for investigation is Rogers TMM10, which is a ceramic thermoset polymer composite material having a dielectric constant of epsilon(r) = 9.2. The cup-shaped geometry offers a wideband of 83% impedance bandwidth for vertical bar S-11 vertical bar < -10 dB at 2.3 GHz. Two modes have also been investigated which show the presence of TM101-like mode and TM01 delta-like mode of the cylindrical DRA. The peak gain observed is 4.5 dBi at around 2.3 GHz. The measured results show that the efficiency is above 90% for the bandwidth of operation.
