Description The present work on the ecological studies of the Mula, Mutha and Pavana rivers flowing through Pune city (Maharashtera-India) was carried out using different ecological aspects of phytoplanktons and aquatic vegetations Pune rivers and co-relate their status with type and degree of water pollution. The first chapter deals with global situation of water, essentially biological phenomenon of water pollution, functions and beneficial uses of wetland, and it deals with geographical location and objectives of the study. The second chapter reviews literature concerning the water pollution, biological analysis of water, use of algae and aquatic vegetation for bio-indicators. Scientific studies on ecology of rivers, wetlands and reservoirs with relation to algae and aquatic vegetation. The third chapter deals with materials and method. It gives the method of water collection, water analysis, algal and aquatic vegetation analysis. The fourth chapter incorporates the different parameters of water quality result mainly deals relationships between physico-chemical parameters, source and types of pollutants.Along Mutha river four sampling stations were considered, Vitthalwadi, Garware, Sangam Bridge and Bund Garden. At Sangam Bridge, the quality of water is highly polluted which is evident from DO values, which are less than 1 mg/l in summer months.
