Description The present study was undertaken to investigate the pharmacological properties and safety evaluation for its usage of pregnant and non-pregnant Deoni cow urine in laboratory animals. The pharmacological activities evaluated include, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-pyretic, wound healing, hepatoprotective and antidiabetic activities. Safety evaluation was carried out using sub-acute and subchronic oral toxicity studies in rats. Pregnant and non-pregnant cow urine were administered orally at the
newlinedoses of 0.25 ml/kg and 0.5 ml/kg in all the studies and compared with control and reference groups. From the present study it was concluded that cow urine has the wound healing and hepatoprotective properties at
newlinethe given doses. It was also confirmed that the cow urine is safe to consume at the given doses based on the hematological, biochemical and histological findings. Further research is needed in this field to identify the
newlineactive principal compound/s of cow urine responsible for the hepatoprotective and wound healing actions.
