Description The study of the fluid dynamics of suspensions has gained more and more attention due to its increased applications to several phenomena in the fields of geophysics, engineering and medical sciences. Besides direct applications to transfer lines and blood arteries, cases of fully developed circular pipe flows of suspensions have been studied to clarify the basic hydrodynamic interactions and their boundary conditions. The presence of dust particles in a homogeneous fluid makes the dynamical study of flow problems quite complicated. The presence of dust particles and an external magnetic field render these problems much more complex. The motive behind the present study is to investigate theoretically some fluid flow problems involving small inert suspended particles of practical importance. First chapter gives the basic equations of the dusty fluid flows and the available literature connected with the present work. Chapter II is to analyse the couette dusty flow between two horizontal parallel porous flat plates with transverse sinusoidal injection of the dusty fluid at the stationary plate and its corresponding removal by constant suction through the plate in uniform motion. Due to this type of injection velocity, the dusty flow becomes three dimensional. Perturbation method is used to obtain the expressions for the velocity, temperature fields of both the fluid and dust.
