Description |
As per recommendation of spectrum policy task force, DSA (Dynamic Spectrum Access) can resolve problems of over crowding found in unlicensed radio spectrum. Mr. Joe- Mitola introduced Cognitive Radio(CR) which can mitigate the problem of unlicensed radio spectrum by providing opportunity of DSA in other radio spectrum known as OSA(Opportunist Spectrum Access). Cognitive Radio extends software radio to support spectrum intelligence in sensing spectrum white spaces and using it in non interfering basis. A cellular Cognitive Radio network architecture is being realized in IEEE 802.22 as WRAN ( Wireless Regional Area Network). It specifies air interfaces (PHY) and medium access control(MAC) using Cognitive Radio technology (CRT). The CRT based network(CRN) interact with each other via multi hop wireless link equipped with CRT, opens new paradigm of protocol stack, which is going to address /adapt following; 1. End to End connectivity 2. Reliance in communication 3. Convergence of various services in multiple spectrum/channel environment. 4. Cross layer issues like PHY-MAC-NET layer co-ordination. To address these problems following solutions were suggested in the thesis. 1. A novel approach for MAC sub-layer featuring cross layer adaptation and knowledge based reasoning . 2. A multi-edge graph based routing has PHY layer adaption and information sharing on multi radio as edges, which are used for End to End connectivity . 3. A bio inspired hybrid routing for multi-hop wireless link supporting various services. 4. A resilience protocol for reliance in communication over various radio environment.
