Description |
We continued the majority of our research in project P-Brd-3(77), to Develop Late Maturing Cultivars and Breeding populations for Grain Production, at our subcenter on the JNKVV Agriculture College farm at Gwalior, M. P. in northern India. This farm is located at latitude 26°13' N and longitude 78°14' E and is at an altitude of about 210 m. This location allows us to select and test late maturity pigeonpea under conditions similar to those where this crop is most adapted. Improvement arising from this program can have an important impact as about 60% of Indian pigeonpea production comes from the late maturity pigeonpea.
