Description |
(1) Identify new plant types through screening of germplasm lines and breeding material. (2) Generate variability by making wide crosses including exotic and wild germplasm. (3) Incorporate useful characters from unadapted types into standard adopted cultivars and elite lines. (4) Study the inheritance of the new plant types. (5) Contribute new variability to our own and to national programs.
