Description |
The study presents the result of a detailed system level analysis under the Systemwide Livestock Programme (SLP) using quantitative household data that was collected using stratified random sampling techniques from 20 households each from 8 villages from 3 districts of Southern Africa namely Changara district of Mozambique, Mzimba district of Malawi, and Nkayi district of Zimbabwe. The insights that emerged from the various participatory stakeholder workshops have also been used in the analysis. The study aims at understanding the determinants and the trade off in the crop residue usage between short term livelihood and long term environmental benefits in diverse mixed crop-livestock systems.
