Description Aquaculture is the dynamic pursuit of production of
organisms from water - a process analogous to agriculture
where animals and plants are cultivated from land. The
field o f aquaculture is an emerging bioindustry based upon
the culture and husbandry of all useful aquatic organisms.
it is a significant departure from the traditional "search
and capture" fisheries and may increasingly displace the
hunting and catching of wild stock. Of late there has been
a global upsurge for aquaculture. Increasing world population, the decision by various nations to produce more fish
by developing unutilised or partially utilised water
resources and depletion of natural stock due to excessive
exploitation have been some of the reasons for the need to
produce more fish through aquaculture.
