Many scholarsand theologians believe that Mosaicdietary laws were written partiallybecause of food safety concerns. Foodlaws are mentioned in very old Chinesedocuments; Ayurveda deals with foodsafety. Chanakya's Arthashastra (375BC) describes punishments to be givento persons selling adulterated oils andspices. Records from Greece andRome also indicate that unwholesomeand adulterated food was a problem to them |
