Description |
During the last few years, industries in India have expanded rapidly and a wide range of commodities are being produced. These involve packaging in some form or the other. The large volume of material produced must be transported efficiently and economically from the producing centre to the consuming areas and for this packaging is a necessary condition. No manufacturing process is complete and no sale of the product is practicable without packaging. No industry can function without the use of packaging materials. As the national output of goods increases, so also does the demand for packaging materials. In the chain of marketing processes which starts from production and ends with consumers, packaging materials have a vital role to play. The importance of packaging materials and their proper utilisation in the national economy of a country cannot be over emphasized. In fact, the production and consumption of packaging materials can be taken as an index of the industrial advance made by a country. Packaging materials are many and each variety is adapted to specific requirements. By proper selection and utilization of the right kind of packaging material necessary, the " sales appeal " for the commodity can be created. |
