Description |
Administration of alpha-naphthylthiourea to albino rats caused excessive urinary excretions of albumin, inorganic phosphorus, and urea in 22 hr. Levels of inorganic phosphorus, glucose, and creatinine were elevated in blood and in the pleural effusion. Urea contents in blood and pleural effusion were progressively increased with concomitant rise in arginase activities. Significant increases were observed in phospholipids, triglycerides, and cholesterol concentrations in blood. No changes were noticed in cholesterol and fat contents of the liver. Kidney sections showed lesions in the glomerular region after 8 hr, and in the later stages, the histopathological evidence was suggestive of acute glomerular nephritis of the lipoidal type. |
