Description |
MANGO (Mangifera indica) is an easily perishable fruit and strict observation of certain conditions is essential for its successful storage. In the approximately 500 known varieties, a considerable range of physiological and morphological characters is represented, including differences in size, shape, skin colour, fibre, sugar and acid contents and flavour. For successful storage of mangoes the stage of maturity at which they are .picked is of considerable importance. Usually the grafted varieties of mango are not allowed to ripen on the tree. |
