Description A decrease in succinoxidase, succinic dehydrogenase, cytochrome C and catalase of liver is
noticeable with minimal level of vitamin supplementation as compared to the optimal level In
the diets of rats, However, there Is no change in the cytochrome oxidase activity in the two
groups. The factors leading to the decrease In these enzyme activities have been discussed.
Similar decreases in the enzyme activities are also observed in pantothenic acid deficient rats.
Administration of a single dose of pantothenic acid (10 mg.) restores these enzyme activities
partially to the control values. Maximum restoration is achieved only after 12 hr after the
administration of pantothenic acid. It is concluded that an optimal level of vitaDlin intake is
necessary for effective utilization of protein and maintenance of tissue enzyme levels.
