Description |
The difference between the length of the abscission layer and the thickness of the sUPforting zone consisting of the vascular channel and the total lignified cells around the channe decreased with a progressive decrease in grain shedding in 3 low- and high-shedding varieties of Oryza sativa Linn. and a wild species O. nivara Sharma & Shastry. This difference could represent an easily measurable index of the shedding behaviour of the variety. |
