Description The supplementary value of a low cost protein food (Bal-Ahar)
based on a 70:15:15 blend of whole wheat, peanut and processed soybean
flours and fortified with vitamins and minerals to poor wheat and karfir
corn diets has been studied with albino rats. When the food was incorporated
at 10 and 20% levels to provide 1. 5 and 3. 0% extra proteins in the
diets, highly significant increases in the growth rate and PER were observed,
The improvement in the growth rates was of the same order as that obtained
with a supplement of skim milk ponder.
