Description Photobacterium damselae sub sp. damselae,earlier known as Vibrio damselae, is a halophilicmarine bacterium causing diseases in a variety ofmarine animals and humans. Mortality due to thispathogen has been reported in cultured Asianseabass in Thailand (Kanchanopas-Barnette et al.,2009 Fish Pathology 44, 47–50). So far there are noreports on infection and mortality of Asian seabasscaused by this pathogen from India.
