Description An experiment was undertaken in the research plot (college campus) Dept. of Soil Science and Agricultural chemistry, College of Agriculture, OUAT, Bhubaneswar with objectives of studing the influence of integrated nutrient management on seed yield and quality of horsegram var. OHG-3 during late rabi 2013-14. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with three replications and ten treatment combinations including untreated one. The treatment combinations are 50% RDNPK, 50% RDNPK + vermicompost, 50% RDNPK + Vermicompost + Biofertilizer, 75% RDNPK, 75% RDNPK + Vermicompost, 75% RDNPK + Vermicompost + Biofertilizer, 100% RDNPK, 100% RDNPK + Vermicompost and 100% RDNPK + Vermicompost + Biofertilizer. Here, vermicompost was taken as organic source and biofertilizer used was Rhizobium as seed inoculation. The crop was sown on 21st December 2013 with life saving irrigation. The crop was harvested on 19th April 2014. Observations were recorded on growth and yield parameters such as biometric days to initiation of flowering, days to 50% flowering, estimation of chlorophyll ‘a’, chlorophyll ‘b’ and total chlorophyll content, chlorophyll stability index(%),days to harvestable maturity and post-harvest parameters like pod length, pod weight, number of seed per pod, 1000-seed weight, yield per plot and yield per ha. Quality parameters taken into consideration were seed moisture content(%), germination percent, seedling length, seedling dry weight, seed vigour index, first count, speed of germination, electrical conductivity and relative storability estimated on the basis of accelerated ageing. The storability of seed was also predicted by conducting germination test at an interval of two months under ambient condition. Significant difference was found among various treatment combinations in almost all the parameters studied baring days to initiation of flowering, days to 50% flowering, chlorophyll stability index, days to harvestable maturity and number of seed per pod. 100% RDNPK + Vermicompost + Biofertilizer excelled other treatment combinations as regards yield(10q/ha), germination(95.33%), root length(10.29cm), shoot length(10.92cm), seedling dry weight(0.249 gm), seed vigour index(2022.05), first count percent(86.0%), speed of germination(23.26), field emergence(94.67%), accelerated ageing(74.67%) and conductivity of seed leachates (0.202mmhos/cm) but it was at par with 75% RDNPK + Vermicompost + Biofertilizer in most of the parameters studied. From the above result, it was envinced that integrated nutrient management brought about changes in growth, seed yield and seed quality. It may be concluded that use of vermicompost and biofertilizer along with inorganic fertilizer is effective in enhancing quality seed production than the use of inorganic fertilizer alone.
