Description |
The objective of the present study was to describe the toxic effect of chloropyrifos which is used commercially on a variety of crops to control pests, on total protein content of liver tissue in a fresh water fish Channa punctatus which exhibited notable alterations, when treated with various doses of chloropyrifos (75 µL/ L-highs, 50 µL/ L-mediums and 25 µL/ L-lows).The total protein content after pesticide treatment was studied by Lowry et al. method. In low dose the % change of protein was 28.24%, in medium dose 34.35% and in high dose exposure the % change in protein content was observed as 38.93% when compared with the normal. CPF is known to inhibit acetyl cholinesterase, cause behavioral, neurological, oxidative, histopathological, and endocrine and other effects at low doses. Present study also revealed that various doses of chlorpyrifos had significant impact on liver total protein of the fish Channa punctatus
