Description |
A study entitled “Performance of potato cv. Kufri Ashoka as influenced by graded levels of N, P and K” was carried out during Rabi season of 2014-15 in AICRP on Potato, OUAT, Bhubaneswar, Odisha to study the response of different doses of plant nutrient on growth, yield , yield attributing characters and qualitative attributes under Bhubaneswar agro climatic condition. The trial was laid out in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with four replications and seven treatments such as T1 (50 % RDF i.e. N75P40K50), T2 (100 % RDF i.e. N150P80K100), T3 (150 % RDF i.e. N225P120K150), T4 (without N, RD of PK i.e. N0P80K100), T5 (without P, RD of NK i.e. N150P0K100), T6 (without K, RD of NP i.e. N150P80K0) and T7 (control i.e. N0P0K0) with usual management practices. It was found that application of higher doses (150 % RDF) of fertilizers produced highest yield i.e. 22.52 t/ha along with the number of tubers per plant (5.99), average tuber weight (39.87 g), plant height (50.31 cm), number of compound leaves per plant (95.35), leaf area (91.65 cm2) compared to RDF (N150P80K100) which recorded a yield of 22.26 t/ha, 5.62 number of tuber per plant with average tuber weight of 40.86 g which is at par with T3 along with a plant height of 43.27 cm. whereas, in control the yield was drastically low to a tune of 15.15 t/ha with less number of tubers per plant (4.65), with lowest average tuber weight of 33.13 g and lowest plant height of 25.03 cm. The highest uptake of N (162.92 kg/ha), P (25.66 kg/ha) and K (152.11) was recorded with T3 (225:120:150 kg N, P and K /ha) and minimum under control (N0P0K0). The uptake of N, P and K was significantly reduced in the respective nutrient treatments. Nutrient management didn’t significantly affect the qualitative attributes such as TSS and specific gravity. However, crude protein content of tuber and chlorophyll content of leaves showed significant variations to nutrient management among the treatments. By observing the cost economics it is observed that 150 % RDF did not produce higher B:C ratio (1.95). However, application of RDF (150:80:100) produced highest B:C ratio of 2.02. From the above findings it can be concluded that Kufi Ashoka variety if grown in proper time, proper management practices and harvested at proper maturity can produce a yield of 22.26 t/ha under RDF with highest B:C ratio during Rabi season under coastal agro climatic condition of Odisha. |
