Description The study on the Empowerment of Farm Women Through SHGs was conducted Subdega and Bonaigarh block of Sundargarh district. With the objective to obtain the empowerment of farm women through Self help groups in Sundargarh district with special importance to the socio-economic status farm women, profile of WSHGs operating the area under study, to study the empowerment activities taken by WSHGs, study the constraints experienced by WSHGs and suggestions of the members for effective implementation of SHGs activities. Data were collected through specially designed interview schedule developed and put to statistical design to revealed the following results. The socio-economic and psychological profile reveals that majority of the members were middle age group (53.33%), middle school (42.50%), nuclear family (63.33%), medium size family (63.33%), farming/cultivation occupation (60%), marginal land holding (52.50%) and medium material position (67.50%) .The personal and socio –economic character of the respondent showed positive and highly significant association with their economic activities. These variables are highly motivated the respondent for better economic activities. The respondents were of the view that lack of family support, organization support, proper training facility and proper maintenance of record were the major constraints that hinders for empowerment of farm women. The respondents suggested measures to improved quick release of loan, marketing facilities, training in the intensified basic orientation as well as skill development, transport facilities for better marketing, providing infrastructure facilities for selected activity, supervision by higher authority are in ordered of preference for better work of SHG. In respect of trainings, the members of SHGs had more interest and aspiration towards value added products, procurement and marketing of the produce and toy making etc
