Description |
Paddy, sorghum and wheat grains took least time (9-10 days) for spawn development, showed dense white, bright mycelial growth over-crossing the substrate, as compared to others. Shelf life of mother spawn was highest (46 days) in lemon grass oiled, de oiled and lemon grass + paddy straw (1:1) but it was less (24.75 to 29.75 days) in cereal grains. Non-scented rice varieties Shyamala, Swarna and MTU 1010 took minimum days for spawn development (18-20 days) and produced higher biological efficiency (68.56-77.4%) while scented rice varieties Gopalbhog, Basmati and Indira-9 showed no spawn run and only Kasturi gave minimum biological efficiency of 52.60%. The biochemical composition of H.ulmarius showed low fat in Kasturi (1.7%) but the protein, carbohydrate and ash content was higher, 18, 52.6 and 8.14 per cent respectively in Shyamala. Moisture content varied from 92.28 to 62.43%. Among the amended (organic/inorganic) rice straw, least time for spawn run, and higher yield of H.ulmarius was recorded in 50:40:40 kg NPK/ha+ nitrogen blending with FYM. The protein content and ash content of H.ulmarius was also higher in 50:40:40 kg NPK/ha + nitrogen blending with FYM. In paddy straw supplemented with lemon grass 75% lemon grass +25% paddy straw showed maximum number of sporophores, yield, and protein content i.e., 52.4, 361.3 g and 20.55% respectively. The content of carbohydrate and fat was significantly reduced, 50.21 and 1.62 per cent respectively as compared to other treatments including sole lemon grass and paddy straw substrate while the ash content was higher in sole lemon grass 8.12%. First harvesting was earlier in sole lemon grass, 75% Lemon grass + 25% Paddy straw and 50:50 Lemon grass: Paddy straw (30-31 days) while it was delayed in sole paddy straw (35.8 days). No spawn run was observed during the month of May in different dikaryons of H.ulmarius. Effect of environmental conditions greatly influenced the period of spawn run, pinning and B.E. of H.ulmarius. Minimum time for pinning (25 days) and maximum yield was observed during the month of December when the minimum, average and maximum temperatures was 18.6ºC, 20.1ºC, and 21.6ºC respectively, while relative humidity was 65.8% (morning) to 58.4% (evening). The correlation coefficient was negative and significant between maximum temperatures and yield related parameters (spawn run, pinning and yield) while it was positively and significantly correlated with relative humidity during morning.
