Description Marine geochemistry of Platinum (Pt) and Iridium (Ir) shows that both the elements are relatively enriched in manganese nodules. Compared to Pt concentration in the earth's upper continental crust the oceanic manganese nodules contain on an average 100 times more Pt. Thus the manganese nodules resources at Central Indian Basin, could be a potential source for precious metals including Pt, Palladium (Pd) and Silver (Ag). In this article the possible precious metal resources present in the Central Indian Basin nodules and their enrichment process is discussed and compared with similar resources from Pacific.
