Description |
1,4-Benzoxazinone derivatives as (2R)-2-beta-D-glucopyranosyloxy-2H-1,4-benzoxazine-3(4H)-one (GHBOA, blepharin) (1) and (2R)-2-beta-D-glucopyranosyloxy-4-hydroxy-1,4-benzoxazine 3-one (GDIBOA) (2) have been isolated from the pods of mangrove Acanthus illicifolius. The crude methanolic extract of this plant exhibited analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities. Structures of these compounds have been established on the basis of their spectral data and the data recorded on their acylated derivatives. Data reported earlier for pentacetyl blepharin has also been discussed.
