Description |
The report on chemical and ecological studies of benthic marine invertebrates from the southern coast of the Indian peninsula is summarised. In particular, the paper is centred on the chemical investigations of opisthobranch molluscs (Volvatella sp., Jorwnna funebris, Elysia sp., Glossodoris atromarginata, Chromodoris mandapamensis, Hypselodoris kanga and Haminoea cymbatum) and the associated preys, mainly sponges. It also describse the biological activity of the isolated compounds and the ecological role with special attention to their defensive and chemo-taxonomical significance
